I had such fun last night at the Gaston High Homecoming. The school honored my graduate Class of 1990. A few of us graduates met early in the evening to eat and then proceeded to a tea sponsored by the high school. At the tea, a few additional classmates joined us. All together, 13 out of 50 of my classmates attended the evenings festivities. I only knew that we were being honored because of Facebook.
The Homecoming game was a washout! Literally, as we were getting to the stadium, the bottom fell out. Every one ran for cover. It was pretty crazy. Shane and I had our rain coats and an umbrella, yet our shoes and pants still got soaked.
My class split up after the downpour, a small group of us went to Jefferson's to eat.
Some of my reflections on the evening:
It was really exciting to see everyone.
Our 10 year reunion was fun but this 20 year event seemed more intimate.
Everyone enjoyed sharing life experiences.
I felt young again being back at Gaston.
I remember really loving being the in the band. Those were six great years of football games and music.
The Color Guard/Dance Line uniforms are so much better than the one we had to wear.
I really wanted to stay for the Homecoming Dance with Shane.
Even though everyone in my class are the same age, we are at several different life stages. Some have babies, some have teenagers, etc....
I now realize that the people I grew up with and graduated with are neat people. I took them for granted in high school.
I love my little country school, 600+ students, K-12, all in one school. I'm so proud to be a graduate of Gaston High School Class of 1990!
